TouchPointPOS™

(Advanced in-store Point Of Service software)

TouchPointPOS is a software solution designed for retailers seeking a scalable cost-effective alternative to their existing POS, Kiosk or mobile software. TouchPointPOS provides accurate timely information anywhere in the retail enterprise, is easy to use and is developed using standards-based non-proprietary technology.

Each year, retailers invest significant amounts of capital adding new features to their in-store Point of Service solutions, coordinating development changes across the different systems and providing on-going support. While taking advantage of the Microsoft .NET 3.5 technology platform, TouchPointPOS provides a single source code solution that spans POS, kiosk and mobile devices; thus reducing your cost.

A major focal point of the TouchPointPOS design is cost of ownership, including minimizing integration cost. While TouchPointPOS is an advanced feature-rich solution with lots of capability out of the box, it is also architected for change when required. Through the use industry standard Web Services technology, TouchPointPOS can integrate with retailers existing enterprise systems to provide a seamless integration. Critical business information is maintained in XML data formats to allow easy conversion to any desired format.

The TouchPointPOS advanced GUI can be configured as “touch” or “non-touch” and is designed to substantially reduce training cost by making the user interface simple, very intuitive and powerful. Using the Microsoft Expression Suite, one can design new or extend the existing GUI for POS, Kiosk or mobile POS devices.

TouchPointPOS exceeds PCI compliance requirements and leverages the ARTS Data Model standards and OPOS. By leveraging industry standard technologies, the learning curve for your staff to be proficient with TouchPointPOS and .NET 3.5 is significantly less than solutions developed with proprietary technology and tools.

TouchPointPOS is fully architected using Microsoft .NET 3.5 in order to take extensive advantage of the technology platform capabilities. The core technologies of .NET 3.5 including: Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Windows Work Flow (WF) and Windows Communications Foundation (WCF) combine an intuitive user experience, an encapsulation of business processes for flexible re-use and access to data anywhere using universal data standards.

TouchPointPOS, TouchPointKiosk and TouchPointMobile leverage the same business rules, data and enterprise integration capability while presenting a different WPF GUI interface to the user. TouchPointPOS for POS, kiosk and mobile, allow an integrated approach to developing new feature-capability once instead of conducting three distinct development efforts.

Using the HQ Connect feature of TouchPointPOS, detailed transaction history for each store is collected and transmitted to corporate real-time and stored in an OLTP database. The transaction data residing in the OLTP database is stored in an XML format to maximize flexibility in presenting data to other enterprise systems and by using Web Services.

Cost effective – While TouchPointPOS is a feature rich software solution; it is designed for ease of use. E3 Retail™ recognizes retailers are perpetually training store personnel. The design of the user interface is simple yet performs powerful functions to enable the quick and efficient customer experience desired for your operations. Additionally, TouchPointPOS provides a training mode for both POS and in-store Back Office.

Latest technology – TouchPointPOS has been developed from the ground up on Microsoft .NET 3.5 in order to take full advantage of all the technology has to offer. A retailer’s selection of TouchPointPOS is state-of-the-art proven technology and not older technologies nearing the end of their lifecycle. Many products in the marketplace merely port an older technology to a newer, but continue to utilize the older original design concepts which limit the ability to fully utilize the newer technology.

Re-use / platforms – The TouchPointPOS business rules (encapsulation of detailed retail functions) are designed to be separate from the user interface and workflow. The business rules can be leveraged in other areas of the enterprise (e.g., on the web) in addition to re-use across kiosk and mobile devices. This approach enables a “develop once and deploy many” strategy.

Extensibility – TouchPointPOS makes extensive use of object-oriented programming techniques to accommodate a retailer’s custom business requirements. Additionally, using Expression Blend 3, the user interface can be enhanced per specific requirements. The TouchPointPOS advanced integration techniques allows “seamless” integration with customer supplied applications.

IT Staff Productivity – TouchPointPOS is not proprietary. Many retail IT shops are already trained in .NET development tools which allow significant productivity improvements with the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
